Central Pennsylvania can rightfully claim to be one of, if not, THE hotbed for trail racing in the U. S. Below are some regional trail events that cater to both trail runners and fast hikers. Each has its own personality and vibe. Try them all!

Hyner View Trail Challenge (Hyner) - 25k or 50k on April 22, 2017
Ironmaster's Challenge (Pine Grove Furnace State Park) - 15k or 50k on April 30, 2017
Eagle Trek (McElhattan) - 6 or 12 mile course - May ?, 2017
Rothrock Trail Challenge (Tussey Mountain) - 30k on June 2, 2017
Rachel Carson Trail Challenge (Pittsburgh) - 34 miles on June 24, 2017. Tough, long course in the heat. You need to do it at least once.
Prowl the Sproul (Hyner) - 10k in July 23, 2017
KTA Trail Challenge (Pequea) - 25K and 50K point to point in Lancaster and York Counties on September 9, 2017
Dam Full and Half Marathons (R. B. Winter Park) - 13.1 and 26.2 - September 18, 2016
Rock'n The Knob (Blue Knob) - Highest trail race in PA! 30K & 5 miler in September ?, 2017. Over 4,800 feet of climbing and reaches a 3,138 feet summit.
Eagleton Mine Camp Trail Challenge - October 8, 2017 is the inaugural EMCTC. Both a 25K and 50K race is offered on a great varied, and mostly runable course.
Mountain of Hope Trail Challenge (Rote) - October ?, 2017 will be the second year for this rather difficult, but excellent course just off the Lock Haven exit of I-80. It is a half-marathon, more or less. A budding race that deserves tons of support.
